Through The Cage with Danny Farrar

Danny FarrarSo, I met Danny Farrar at the Danger Zone event in Manassas Park. I was highly impressed with this guy for a few reasons. The first being his bright red mohawk that he rocks, the second was the ink he has and the third and most important was his ability to stay calm and relax in the cage.

After his fight, I talked to him for a brief second, gave him a card and told him to email me so I could let the world know who Danny Farrar was. Here is his interview.

The Danger Zone ~ Extreme Tension

Dan Severn and The Danger Zone brought their first show to the Manassas Park Community Center tonight. I must admit I was kinda skeptical at first as I am of all new shows to the area but this one did not disappoint.

The Danger ZoneThe card had 10 fights on it and they were all really good fights. There might have been one that I could have done without seeing and was ready to go get a drink but it was the first fight of the night and, well, the big boys tend to gas out early. For an amateur card, many of the fights were edge-of-the-seat exciting. Danny Farrar's red mohawk and ability to withstand Matt Gatka's submission attempts early on were vaguely reminiscent of UFC fighter Dan Hardy's rubber arms when he challenged Georges St. Pierre for his title belt. Unlike that championship bout, however, this Danny turned the tables on his opponent and locked in a rear naked choke for the win. Dave Posin vs Cory Tangen was another exciting fight that ended with Tangen crumpling to the floor from a knee kick and being finished by Posin. Immediately afterward Tangen could be seen claiming a groin kick but the ref stood by his decision to stop the fight. Here's the shot that led to the TKO, you be the judge:  http://www.mmafightpics.com/The-Danger-Zone/Extreme-Tension/13827619_pketw#1013551272_znpby

Several teams were represented on the fight card, including Tenacious MMA, Shaddock MMA and Evolve Academy (whose fighters went 4 for 4 tonight). Team Evolve brought out some fighters tonight! Shaddock MMA did well, too, winning 3 out of 4 bouts.

SugarHan Productions Amateur Fight Night

SugarHan productions returned last night with amateur fight night. The event which was promoted by former professional boxer Han Kim who is a staple in the local boxing community. Originally Han was to put on a professional card, which was ultimately canceled due to the injury of a main card fighter. For an event which was put together in two weeks, the fights were awesome. Typically amateur events are a hit or miss with a mix of good fights, and glorified sparring sessions. The event featured  Harrison Bernstein, former Assistant Strength/Conditioning Coach for the Washington Redskins. Bernstein who has trained professional MMA fighters in the Renzo Gracie/Gracie Barra camp such as Ricardo Almeida made his amateur boxing debut, and won by decision. The night was short was short and sweet, with the fights starting at about 7 and ending around 9. Look for more professional and amateur Sugarhan events in the future. Thanks to Chris Payatagool for putting together a great card, and keeping Through The Cage up-to-date on SugarHan Production events. The pictures are posted, just click the link Fight Images.

The Danger Zone ~ Extreme Tension

Dan Severn and The Danger Zone brought their first show to the Manassas Park Community Center tonight. I must admit I was kinda skeptical at first as I am of all new shows to the area but this one did not disappoint.

The card had 10 fights on it and they were all really good fights. There might have been one that I could have done without seeing and was ready to go get a drink but it was the first fight and well the big boys tend to gas out early. Other than that this was a great night of fights and we at TTC really look forward to seeing a lot more of The Danger Zone in the area.

The card had fighters from a lot of different teams. The team that went 4 for 4 was Team Evolve. They brought out some fighters tonight!

Stay tuned to interviews with Evolve MMA fighter Danny Farrar (1-0) who made his fighting debut with a huge victory over Matt Gatke (2-2) from Tenacious MMA

Official results will be posted later, as for now head over to MMA Fight Pics to check out the images from the event.
