The UFC has released the official numbers from UFC 116 and I have to say Zuffa writes checks that make the banks bounce. According to www.mmaweekly.com the official gate attendance at UFC 116 was 12,740. From that 12,740 only 2,194 tickets were left unsold since the MGM was set up to seat 14,934.
So, according to the Nevada State commission just the gate receipts of 116 brought in .... wait for it....$4,053,990!!! Now, I know that is just intake and doesnt take into account how much they paid the fighters, the venue, the commission and so on.
The total fighter payroll was just over $1.3 million (including bonuses)...do the math...Zuffa still is up over $2.5 mil. Pay the venue and the rest of the show have to haves like security blah blah...I am guessing they are still up about $2 million. I might be off there by a little but I havent finished.
Now, add into Zuffa's pot of cheddar all the merch they sold from the venue and the pay per view sales and Zuffa is back up probably around $4 million they started at. Not bad for 4 hours of great fights.
Now that I am checking into the money aspect of it, I just found this....
Brock Lesnar $400,000 (no win bonus) def. Shane Carwin ($40,000)
Does that seem fair to you?
