Through The Cage - From the outside looking in...

It was an exciting night for the Barbarian Fight Club on Saturday with most of the Vindication fights ending in the first or second round.  Only three bouts went to decision, including the headline match between Eric "The Lion" Ellerbee and Ty "The Assassin" Blake. Ellerbee won the unanimous decision after proving the more aggressive fighter.  During his post fight interview he made it known his desire to be "the greatest fighter in the history of the world."

This fight card had the distinction of being the first BFC event to have three KOs in one night, including one by Brandon "The Creature" Smithson, fighting out of The Kennel MMA. Coming in with a 0-1 record, Smithson lived up to his nickname and attacked his opponent, Carlos Dayrit, like an animal. When asked after the fight what changed between his last fight and this one, Smithson didn't mention his newly shaved head (having sported long dredlocks last time) and instead credited "the mask" he used during his walkout.  Jay "The Hell Hound" Schmitz and Brett Glass (also both from The Kennel MMA) served up the other two KOs of the night.  In fact, The Kennel had a very good night, with five of their six fighters winning their bouts. The sixth fighter, Bruce "Thunderock" McDowell, was dominating his opponent, Rich "Braveheart" Ferguson, on the ground when the referee disqualified him for delivering an illegal knee kick to a downed opponent. Also of note from The Kennel was Brandon Summers' fight, whose fight ended prematurely when his opponent failed to answer the second bell.

Notable mentions also go to Darious Thomas (The Cave MMA) who rallied back from a difficult first round to win his bout against Rob Shay via split decision, and Juan Vazquez (Warrior MMA) who won his match in convincing fashion when the referee stopped the fight in the first round due to strikes.
